June 11th, 2017 Blog: Building dolls house The Magpies
Part 4, june 11th, 2017:
Today we start with removing all the masking tape.
We'll place the house standing up on the surface, in our case the table.
The right hand side picture shows all parts, needed to create the first staircase. We start with the stairs from the ground floor to the 1st floor (see left photo).
This staircase has an extra part, a separate step ("losse trede b.g.") for the bottom of the stairs. The height of the ground floor is, as with most houses, slightly higher than the above floors.
In the crafting of the stairs we also deviate from the order in the manual. This is purely for practical reasons.
First we glue the triangle to support the upper part of the stairs at the top of the straight stair part (step 13). This should dry for 45 minutes.
In the meantime we can glue the end post on the bend of the staircase (step 22), so it can dry. The stairs gates in front of the first floor are glued together at a right angle( Step 21). This part can dry too.
When the straight stair part with the triangular lat has dried for 45 minutes, we can start measuring out the stair rods.
As shown in the drawing (step 15), the stair rods are placed on the right side of the steps. To get the rods right underneath the railing, first we mark the spot where the bottom of the rod comes onto the stair step with a pencil.
As the picture shows, the stairs rods aligns with the stairs post on the bend of the stairs. Later on the railing will be placed in the middle of the end post. Draw on every step a dash where the rod has to be placed. After this the stair rods can be glued on the stairs steps using the inserted dashes. Let the glued rods dry for 45 minutes.
After all the assembled parts of the first stair have dried for 45 minutes, all these parts can be put together.
Glue the bottom part of the stairs on the loose step ("losse trede b.g."). Let this dry for 30 minutes. Glue the bend of the stairs at the top of the straight stair part. Let this dry for 45 minutes. Place the railing dry practise on the rods of the bottom stair so the lower end post can be properly placed. Glue the lower end post on the loose step ("losse trede b.g"). Now the railing can be glued. The first stair is now assembled.
Let the stairs drying and it's done.
The stairs from the ground floor to the first floor is in the house. Next time we continue with the second stair.
